What are the possible strategies to monetize your iPhone application ?

I came up with the next list :

1. Sell your app for a fixed price per download
2. Give your app for free and earn money with advertisement banners (Still looking for a good ads supplier for iPhone apps !)
3. Sell your app for the lowest store price (0.79 Euro) and earn money with payments within the application
4. Have a commision plan with the customer which want’s to have an iPhone application

Any other suggestions ? Let me know…

On my IPhone application, I want to show a view when there’s no internet connection. (faking by opening a non existing url) .

But, I get the following exception in the console :

Terminating app due to uncaught exception ‘NSUnknownKeyException’, reason: ‘[<NoInternetViewController 0x5159e0> setValue:forUndefinedKey:]: this class is not key value coding-compliant for the key myViewOutlet.’

The Exception occures on the [window makeKeyAndVisible];

What could be the problem ?

On the iPhone it’s very easy to show a list of things of a particular topic. For instance, a top 10 list of destinations to go to in The Netherlands, or a top 10 list of things you must visit in a country.

How could you monetize this ?

A couple of possibilities :

- Sell the app for 0.79Euro, would you buy such an app ?
- Let the advertiser pay for his content to be shown in the app, how much should he pay for this ?

Other questions I have :
- How many download would you have with this application ?
- What are other markets to use for this application ?

Anybody answers for this questions or other thoughts about it ?

In Iphone 3.0 SDK beta it’s possible to build apps with push notification. This means you can notify an iPhone user, and you app will show a notification on your apps icon on the iphone.

So what kind of apps can be build with this ? A lot, I mean a lot, this is a great feature of the 3.0 specs, and will bring us a lot of new apps in the store.

So what could be notified, this is a lot, for example,

That your pizza is going to be delivered
That your taxi is on the way
A new post is added to a RSS feed
etc..
etc..
etc..

All the things you liked to be notified about, could be build in existing or new Iphone applications.

Today a lot of tools and sites are available to promote yourself, or to do some personal branding. Why not create an Iphone app, which will show a kind of profile of yourself when it starts ?

I’ve made a little test application, called gevi, which shows my linkedin Profile when started.
